STUDY FINDS AGING DISTANCE RUNNERS SLOW SLOWLY
Everyone knows that distance runners slow down as they age. A team of German researchers recently investigated the pace of this deterioration. The looked at the half-marathon and marathon finishing times of more than 300,000 runners. They found that the mean finishing times were the same at all ages between 20 and 49. Between the ages of 50 and 69, performances declined at rates between 2.6 and 4.4% per decade. |
